Tower Hamlets

One of the starkest facts about Tower Hamlets is that it is the richest borough in the UK during the day but one of the poorest boroughs at night. In response, our programmes in Tower Hamlets support a wide range of community organisations, social enterprises and local businesses to bridge the divide between the wealth of Canary Wharf and the City and the communities on their doorstep.
Our latest exciting programmes focus on two key regeneration areas in the north and south of the borough.
St Paul’s Way is a divided and neglected community, only a short hop from Canary Wharf but a million miles away in terms of wealth and opportunities. Over the next three years we are working with the support of member companies to transform the area by supporting the local residents, school students, as well as the staff and service users of the new health and community centres.
In and around The Boundary Estate in the north of the borough, we are coordinating a partnership that will focus support through our member company participation and employee volunteering to create a vibrant and thriving community in an area that has seen many changes but little improvement.
Did you know that Tower Hamlets has the largest number of fast food outlets in the whole of Europe? Our innovative project Recipe for Success is working with corporate kitchens and high-end restaurants to change local people’s eating habits as well as support community cafes.
CAREER CAPITAL
Contrary to popular belief the companies who support us do want to recruit locally. Career Capital helps undergraduates from East London universities get on their radar through a series of professionally-focused training and networking events that will help you look and feel like the consummate professional.
Within the Career Capital project there are three programmes designed to focus you on an industry you wish to access - career Capital Business, Career Capital IT and Career Capital Legal.
