One East London

One East London is a flagship ELBA programme building sustainable partnerships between businesses, the public sector and local communities to ensure that Stratford City is built as a sustainable community within East London.

Overview

Stratford is currently the centre of a massive programme of infrastructure development and regeneration which will bring thousand of new jobs into the area and change the face of the community.

Through One East London ELBA is building bridges between the new and established communities and delivering programmes which cross barriers, inspire and engage, build trust and create a culture of participation and volunteering. The programme will be delivered through four themes: Employability; Raising Aspirations; Building Capacity; and Community Development.

Generous funding from the Credit Suisse EMEA Foundation and the Swan Foundation has given rise to a new employability programme to improve the job readiness of local people.

Kate Butchart, Credit Suisse Head of Philanthropy EMEA, said “we are really excited about working on this project with ELBA as it will enable us to deliver our skills into the community and will help to prepare local people for the jobs coming to the area.”

The London Thames Gateway Development Corporation is providing funding for youth and education projects to raise the skills and aspirations of young people around Stratford.
