Newham

We all know where Newham is now - it’s home to ExCel, London City Airport, Westfeld’s Stratford City and of course the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games . These developments and the massive regeneration taking place in Canning Town and the proposed Enterprise Zone in the Royal Docks, are all going to have a massive impact on the borough.
At ELBA we see it as our job to bring businesses and communities together to ensure that this prosperity is shared by the people who live in one of the poorest boroughs in the country. We want to raise the skills, aspirations and resilience of the local community and have developed some remarkable programmes to ensure just that.
Education: Working across the range of schools from primary and secondary, through to university level, we provide business skills and volunteers to support students and the institutions, from the Times Educational Supplement (TES) award-winning Business Support Group model to “Superskills” projects in primary schools.
Employability: Informed by employers, we support a wide range of community partners and their clients to develop the skills and attributes to gain employment.
Employment: The Newham employment team found over 400 jobs for local people last year, through our connections with Newham Workplace and our member companies, their suppliers and subcontractors.
Capacity Building: We support charities with business skills volunteering, executive coaching and finding and placing trustees.
