Legacy

London Legacy 2020, one of ELBA’s flagship programmes, is the leading private sector effort to help secure a positive legacy from the 2012 Games.  This programme brings some of the biggest corporate names in London to the task.  Acting at the invitation of community partners ranging from government departments to local charities, we are supporting the human as well as physical and economic projects in East London.

Physical Legacy

The 2012 Games leaves behind a range of tangible and intangible assets from the Aquatics Centre and athletes’ village to the lingering memory of the Games and the experience of an unprecedented volunteering effort. To help transform the Olympic Park into a human place, we have identified three key projects:

The Olympic Broadcast Centre
Over the last few years, we have assembled the Broadcast Centre Legacy Group, an ad-hoc group of a broad variety of digital media and broadcast companies.  It is hoped that the Broadcast Centre will become a home for a new generation of creative and digital media companies.  We have offered to support the Olympic Park Legacy Company when they need friends to help get the word out.

Human Legacy

In terms of supporting the human legacy side of our work, we focus on two main areas: culture and youth & sport.

Culture
Post Games, it is vital that Londoners and visitors visit and enjoy the open park. One key attraction will be the CREATE festival, a yearly summer celebration of art, culture, festivals and performance in the five host boroughs for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. It will bring together a collection of exciting, inspiring and very different things to see and do and has the ambition to grow year on year to rival the Edinburgh Festival for scale and impact.
