Employment

At ELBA, we encourage our corporate membership to invest their skills, resources, ideas and perspectives to create innovative solutions to local employment issues.
'The business case for recruiting locally is clear. As well as helping to tackle unemployment in East London, your business will benefit from lowered recruitment costs, higher retention rates, increased diversity, new business / increased market penetration, reduced travel to work time and good PR. It makes sense to be involved'.

What we do

Access to jobs
We run a number of innovative programmes that focus on giving hundreds of local people the opportunity to gain transferable skills and acquire experience and confidence in a real work environment over a set period of time. We are extremely proud of our track record of enabling many of our trainees to progress directly into permanent positions. The impact on their lives and the wider community is absolutely invaluable.
Workshops and events
We support our member companies to host one-day employability workshops offering jobseekers a valuable insight into the corporate world. The training is demand-led meaning jobseekers are getting the most relevant training available whilst meeting the employers’ needs. The topics covered in these workshops often include CV preparation, interview skills, communication skills and a general introduction to the culture of the corporate world.
Capacity building for the jobs brokerage sector
We identified another key opportunity for improving the worklessness agenda. We felt we could use our experience and expertise to strengthen the jobs brokerage sector. To do this we developed a training package on good practice in job brokerage including a best practice guide. We provide training sessions for local job brokerages ensuring that they are delivering a first class job brokerage service for local people. We are confident that this support is making a difference to the services offered to local job seekers.
