Community

We have 3 borough specific Community Programmes in Hackney, Newham and Tower Hamlets.  We deliver the majority of our work for these programmes through our employee volunteering service.  We have 20 years’ experience of volunteer management up our sleeves and have a unique understanding of how our business volunteers can best use their skills to maximise the benefits back to the community.

We offer a comprehensive, bespoke service to our members which covers everything from sourcing suitable volunteering opportunities, through to recruiting the right volunteers and conducting due diligence on the organisations.  We ensure that our community partners get the most out of their volunteers whilst the volunteers themselves have a fulfilling experience.

Crucially, we also understand what motivates our members to give their employees time off to get involved in volunteering.  From skills development and staff retention to helping our members become an Employer of Choice, we work with them to ensure they get the most out of their employee community involvement programme.

Each year, we field over 8,000+ volunteers from our member companies into these boroughs, enabling them to actively support more than 500 local organisations. This investment is worth over £3 million every year.

Business Volunteering

Almost 25% of our volunteers share their business skills and expertise with a vast range of organisations across East London on a one to one basis. It is this targeted business support that we value most as it helps build the capacity of local community organisations enabling them to do more of what they are good at, helping to improve the lives of East Londoners. They do everything from being a mentor, providing legal advice to providing marketing support.

Team challenges

Each year, ELBA introduces thousands of team challenge volunteers to local community partners across East London, which makes an important contribution to the general upkeep of the area. We know that many companies now recognise the potential value of community-based team-building events: they allow groups to bond and experiment with different leadership and teamwork skills, they raise morale and motivation and help raise brand awareness.

We work with our community partners to identify the most valuable projects within your specified locality and timeframe and aim to be as flexible as possible. We do the hard work associated with organising a team challenge so that your team can just concentrate on getting the most out of the day.
