One Movement

The Olympic gold medallist Christine Ohuruogu, has said that more needs to be done over the next year to make sure we include all young people in the 2012 Games. Speaking to the BBC she said that, while young people were excited, those not engaged in sports found it hard to see what interest the 2012 Games held for them.
This lack of engagement among young people in sports is one of the reasons why ELBA is running our series of One Movement Festivals, the second of which will take place this Saturday 30 July at Clissold Park, Hackney. These free events offer young people the chance to get tasters of a range of sports from local clubs including judo, rowing, volleyball, and gymnastics, but also include music and other cultural performances to attract young people who may not come to a traditional sports event.
One of the VIPS at this Saturday’s event will be Victoria Ohuruogu, Christine’s sister and an inspiring young athelete in her own right, who competes in the 400m. Joining Victoria, will be World Champion in double mini trampoline Adeeva Bryan.
