I East London is our way of sharing all the things we love about East London, with you. Great local restaurants; the best bookshops; up-and-coming entrepreneurs; a secret space we’re happy to share; eclectic events and East Londoners who inspire us – they are our hidden gems and why we love this diverse, buzzy part of the Capital.

Rootmaster

With BoJo’s unveiling of the brand new Routemaster, here’s a real treat that certainly isn’t like the other buses. Set in a quiet corner of East London’s bustling Brick Lane, this bustaurant has all the charm and magic you would expect. From the cosy seating upstairs to the view of an old classic motor out the window; not somewhere you would call ‘regular’.

The Christmas lights shine every night come winter or summer and service by an almost-too-tall waiter make it all the more ‘interesting’. Rootmaster may not instantly appeal to the carnivores amongst us but the vegan menu won’t disappoint; if the mains don’t do it for you, the desserts most certainly will. If you’re looking for a unique dining experience, book in advance to avoid disappointment because others have discovered it too.
