CALL FOR RUNNERS AND VOLUNTEERS FOR THE BRITISH 10K RACE IN LONDON - 8 JULY 2012

The British 10K London Run is the UK's most prestigious and sought-after 10km road race which is staged on the world's greatest route through the heart of central London. 25,000 runners fill the streets of the nation's capital and get the unique chance to run past many of the country's greatest landmarks including Big Ben, The London Eye, St Paul's Cathedral, Trafalgar Square and Westminster Abbey. Abilities range from charity fundraisers and recreational runners, right through to Olympic champions - almost anyone can run (or walk) 10k!

The 2012 event is staged just 19 days before the start of the Olympic Games and the excitement and buzz within London at this time will make for a truly special occasion. This unique event is a fantastic opportunity for ELBA members to take part in some Olympic/sports-themed fund raising in 2012 - a perfect way to have a real “taste of the Olympics” and help people with learning disabilities in east London at the same time. ELBA member, CMS Cameron McKenna, have already recruited a team of 60 runners!

As the official race charity, Special Olympics Great Britain will use the vital funds raised, to use sport to positively change the lives of London's 150,000 children and adults with learning disabilities. We are looking for 2,012 runners to join Team Special Olympics, each raising £250 in sponsorship and therefore working together to jointly achieve our target of £500,000. We are also looking for volunteers to help the day run smoothly.
