Team Volunteer

Last year’s winner was Helen Ford from Linklaters for her work with St Monica’s Catholic School. Helen is a great example of “conversion”. We love team challenges at ELBA but what we really like is to develop longer term partnership between the volunteers and their community partners. Helen has returned year on year with her team to renovate and reorganise the school’s infant and junior libraries. The Head teacher praised her for creating an area that is well loved and used by all the children.
Partnership of 2008
Last year’s winner was the Legal and Compliance team at Morgan Stanley for their work with Eastside Young Leaders Academy and the Ascension Eagles Cheerleaders. Morgan Stanley was the first company to engage with our Future Directions programme and they have really run with it, making it a huge success. This programme for young people is aimed at developing leadership skills and raising aspirations and ambitions whilst giving them a glimpse of the corporate world. The scheme has proved so successful that there is a waiting list to volunteer and the team have also engaged volunteers from across Morgan Stanley’s Women’s and Black African and Caribbean networks to take part.

Thanks to Mike’s dedication and leadership the programme has had an impact on 75 young people’s lives in the three most challenging schools in Newham.
