Awards

We all know that ELBA’s annual Employee Volunteering Awards (EVAs) are East London’s answer to the Oscars and this year did not disappoint in terms of a strong list of nominees; a spectacular event and a host of very worthy award winners.

The 2010 EVAs was a Bollywood themed spectacular, held at the prestigious Centre of the Cell building in Whitechapel. Celebrating the achievements of ELBA member companies over the past year, the highlight of the evening was a Bollywood line dance for guests led by Honey Kalaria and her dancers.

ELBA’s host for the evening was ELBA’s deputy Chairman, Mike Cooper-Mitchell and chief executive Liam Kane who told the guests, “Despite the recession and ensuing challenges, ELBA members from financial services, banking, legal and property development sectors have all increased their commitment to the East London community. Volunteers are up by 25% and we fully expect the trend to continue into 2011 so our awards will be hotly contested again this year.”

This year ELBA also created a new award to commemorate the memory of Peter Welton, the Director of ELBA’s Legacy 2020 Programme who died suddenly earlier in 2010. You can see the winner of The Peter Welton Memorial Award, as well as full details of the winners and a gallery of photos from the evening are here on our website; do have a look.
