Awards

We all know that ELBA’s annual Employee Volunteering Awards (EVAs) are East London’s answer to the Oscars and this year did not disappoint in terms of a strong list of nominees; a spectacular event and a host of very worthy award winners.

Hosted at Wilton’s Music Hall it was without doubt the best ELBA event of the year.  Wilton’s is a fantastic hidden gem;  the world’s oldest and last surviving grand music hall provided a uniquely atmospheric venue where guests from member companies and community partners gathered for an evening of celebration and good old fashioned music hall entertainment. The event was generously sponsored by Hendricks Gin and the entertainment was provided by the Hackney Empire Music Hall Company.

Chairman Richard Reid of KPMG told the audience that in the last 12 months, over 8,000 volunteers from City and Canary Wharf companies had volunteered their time, skills and expertise to schools and voluntary organisations across East London. ELBA has also lobbied on the future of the Olympics broadcast centre and helped nearly 400 local people into work.

The awards were presented across seven categories by Richard Reid, London Chairman of KPMG and ELBA Chair. Full details of the winners and a gallery of photos from the evening are here on our website; do have a look.

To those of you who couldn’t be there, make sure you put Wednesday 8th December 2010 in your diary now!
